- This blog was originally created as a place for me to post some of my original fiction and try my hand at blogging. My focus tends to be poems, as I feel that the pressures of everyday life get in the way of longer pieces. My website (link above) has many of my poems, though it isn't fully up-to-date, and only very few pieces of prose. Overhauling it is a project I always mean to get around to, and never seem to, so please consider it a work in progress. I recently tried my hand at some fanfiction, which I've also posted on my blog.
My general blogging is very sporadic, but I try to post at least a couple of times a month. Entries mainly focus on my favourite books and authors, but other topics include tea, photos, travel and movies. I mainly use LJ to follow friends, communities and the blogs of my favourite authors. I'm active in the Tamora Pierce fandom (I'm a member and moderator of the Fief Goldenlake Tamora Pierce Forum) and I lurk in some other LJ fandom communities.
My favourite authors, who get the most blog time, are Tamora Pierce and Diana Wynne Jones. One of my favourite book series, which can also get lots of blog time, is Harry Potter by Jo Rowling. My favourite TV show, which is starting to get more blog time to reflect how much I talk about it in real life, is Daria (the MTV animated show which is technically a spin-off of Bevis and Butthead but is really a stand-alone show and totally awesome!). My journal name is a referrence to Daria, as is the name 'Melody Powers'.
When I'm not obsessing over books and Daria I'm usually *attempting* to study (I'm currently *supposed* to be writing my honour's thesis) or relaxing with family and friends.
